Top 5 Things to “Wear” at your boudoir session that aren’t Clothing
Boudoir certainly allows for a lot of creative freedom, something I love! Thinking outside the box and coming up with fun creative ways to create portraits, especially with the sexy nature of boudoir photography is such fun. So, I figured why not write about my top 5 things to use, instead of clothing, to “cover” a client during their boudoir session.
A pillow. These are readily available in all shapes and sizes in the studio and are a natural go to during a boudoir session. Not only can they be used to cover (or uncover), but they are also allow the playful side to come to out when acting out a sexy pillow fight!
Sheets! I love posing with sheets. I am sure everyone has seen a photo or two of someone in bed or by the window posing with a sheet. If not, you seriously need to hop on Pinterest and get to searching. It is one of my favorite “props” to pose with. Whether it is implied or full nude, posing with sheets is a way to be alluring while not baring all for the camera. It gives a taste without revealing the whole cake and allows the imagination to run wild!
Flowers. You can be so creative with flowers or even just their petals. A great way to cover parts while adding artistic flare. Also great for milk or tea bath sessions! Can I just say I am obsessed with bath sessions…..Ok….I am beyond obsessed with them. When I remodeled my house, I chose my tub specifically for tub sessions. I don’t know if that was genius or pathetic lol. Flowers are not only great for coverage, but they smell so heavenly. They add to the entire ambience of the session.
Towels. After a beautiful bath session or a sexy shower session, towels are a natural transition and make things super steamy! Like sheets, the imagination can run wild while towels cover a little or a lot.
Books and magazines are also a favorite for adding a bit of drama to your session and photos! They can bring a touch of personality to your boudoir shoot by adding your favorites to either cover you or as an added prop. Either way books and magazines can add an extra flair to your photo session.
Your boudoir experience should be as unique as you are. Take time with your photographer to come up with some fun creative ideas. Start a mood board and share it with your photographer. Pinterest is great for this. Don’t expect your photographer to copy each pose, but do share them for inspiration for your shoot. Pin things like your lingerie, poses, photos with lighting you like etc. These are all ways we like to get to know you and your style.
The sky is the limit. Start thinking even before you book your session. Hope this has inspired some ideas.
Until Next Time,
Christen XOXO
